Curriculum

We are currently using Switched on Schoolhouse Curriculum for Makayla. She is currently in 10th grade, however we purchased the 11th grade curriculum. The reason for this, is that the classes that she would have taken at the local public school matched with SOS 11th grade curriculum. Her core classes are Chemistry, Algebra, History, Writing, Bible. She then also has her electives.
We also add additional chemistry experiements, worksheets, etc. to her daily routine, just to keep the learning fun.
We also use the Workbox system, which is where each of her daily subjects has a bin. I place the 'extra' things that I want her to accomplish in a day in the bins. She starts her morning by removing everything from the first bin, and then logs into SOS and begins that first class. The info from her bin, will match up with the lesson that she is doing from SOS curriculum.
We have also added a couple extra classes for her. We have her doing ASL (American Sign Language), Starbright (Website for Teens living with Crohns Disease), PE and Reading.
Makayla is very much enjoying homeschooling, and is very self-disciplined with spending her days doing her schoolwork. Her grades definately reflect her enjoying it. We are so proud of her!
